Bapat involves ladies self-help teams’ assist

PIMPRI CHINCHWAD: Guardian minister directed the (PCMC) to take initiative and get sub-contracts from industries for the self-help groups (SHG). Civic chief Shravan Hardikar was given the directive on Thursday during the inaugural programme of PCMC‘s 10th Pavanathadi Jatra being held at Sangvi.
Bapat said, “If the women SHGs are allotted to manufacture goods by the industries then around 1,000 to 2,000 women can get employment. So the municipal commissioner must try to implement the initiative.”

The inaugural programme was scheduled for 11am but began nearly 90 minutes late since chief guest CM‘s wife , who is the deputy chief executive president of , was delayed. In addition, nearly all 400 odd stalls at the event were empty as the SHGs were yet to arrange their goods due to the statewide bandh.

In her inaugural speech, Fadnavis said, “Women are able work from home due to SHGs. Women must educate themselves, try to stand on their own feet and also help others to move forward.”

Sunita Tapkir, chairperson of the women and child welfare committee, said, “872 SHGs have got the chance to sell their products at the Pavanathadi Jatra.”
