New Albany star Romeo Langford is chasing Indiana high school basketball history this season.

With 17 games (at most, with a state title run) left on the schedule after New Albany‘s win over Scottsburg Saturday, he‘ll need a robust 40.4 points per game to catch Damon Bailey, the state‘s all-time leading scorer. If it‘s 16 games, thanks to a sectional bye, he‘d need 42.9 points per.

Langford scored 42 points Saturday against Saturday. He currently sits at 2,447 points.

Here‘s who Langford is due to catch next:

No. 8 (2,465, Billy Shepherd)

Shepherd was a two-time All-State selection with the Carmel Greyhounds and was named Mr. Basketball in 1968. He played under his dad, and the duo was the first father-son All-Star coach and player pair.

He played at Butler University for three seasons under Tony Hinkle. He left as Butler‘s all-time leading scorer with over 1,700 points.
