On Thursday, Ross wished former teammate a happy 26th birthday by donning a very special pair of socks: 

At first blush, it‘s an adorable gesture from a beloved former teammate to another, but eagle-eyed fans quickly noted that Ross was wearing his socks on the wrong feet: 

Even though Ross is no longer with the Cubs, he‘s still close with the team, throwing out the first pitch before the team‘s home opener last season and singing the seventh-inning stretch while he worked a game for ESPN.
