BENGALURU: (CCB) sleuths investigating the case of attempt to murder Karnataka P Vishwanatha Shetty will be subjecting who, allegedly, stabbed the watchdog head in his chamber in March, to narcoanalysis.
A CCB team has already taken Sharma to , Ahmedabad, where the narcoanalysis will be conducted.

The sleuths decided to go in for narconanalysis in the wake of the Lokayukta suspecting that the attack on him could have been instigated by someone else.

Sharma, 33, is in judicial custody.

“In his statement to us, the Lokayukta had said the attack was a surprise and he was unable to fathom why Sharma made a bid on his life. He also expressed suspicion that Sharma might have been instigated by someone else. We asked Sharma if someone had instigated him, but he denied. However, we still suspect that there could be someone else behind Sharma. So, we decided to get him to undergo narcoanalysis,” a CCB officer said.

As per rule, police must obtain the consent of the accused before the court if they have to subject him to a narco test. “Sharma gave his consent for the test and the sessions court gave us the go-ahead ,” CCB sources said.

On March 7, Tejraj Sharma, a furniture dealer from Tumakuru, stabbed Lokayukta Vishwanath Shetty in his chamber. Sharma, who walked in the guise of a complainant, hid a small knife inside files while entering the Lokayukta office located in MS Building. Sharma could walk through the metal detector at the entrance as it was defunct.

The staff managed to counter Sharma and shifted Shetty to Mallya Hospital. Shetty returned to office after a gap of 46 days.
